Our Production Process
The initial contact is made with me, the Associate Producer for your video, I explain exactly what we do and cannot do with PBS approved videos, I help you define your video topic, a general theme and what your video goals.
This is where you share your thoughts and key message points, to define your target audience and extended audiences, what is your story, we shape it and deliver your message within the trusted standards of public television, even though you may have other uses for your video post airing, such as updating websites, video channels and social media distribution, we understand that you will have other uses for your Spotlight On video.
I will clearly explain all costs, focus your story or simply follow your lead, I will answer all questions, our goal is to produce the PSA video that tells an interesting story with marketing slant, or it could be strictly educational.
Once we receive the contract and underwriting, the production process kicks off, we initiate a scripting conference call with your key team and our Senior Producer.
Taking into account your preferences (and even what you don't want), we begin crafting the script by defining your video goals and storyline.
At this stage, your job is done.
Within 2-3 weeks, we present the script to you in an engaging oral format, we bring the show to life by describing visuals, sound effects, and voice-overs, taking you on a journey of imagination. We are good storytellers, and you will be able to clearly envision the completed program very well.
We email the script for your editing, revisions and final approval.
We realize that you will be using the video for other purposes, so we want the video to fit your needs and purposes.
Once the script is approved, we schedule the filming day. We fine tune the interview scripts and plan the shoot date. We will travel anywhere in the continental USA, dedicating one day to capture all the necessary footage – interviews, background shots, and more.
If you have any B-roll or stills, even music suggestions that compliment your video, we can incorporate broadening the scope of what is shown.
After filming, the editing and post-production process begins. This is an important step, you the client will sign off approval of the script prior to voice overs, additional charges wil apply if the client requests changes, no problem, but we are a production company and we work to move your project along in a professional process.
After the script is approved, we add voice-overs, music, sound effects – all the elements of a show are meticulously put together. We send you draft versions for your review, we can change visuals or music as needed. Script or voice over changes require a work change order.
Usually, within two weeks of filming, the final show is completed and uploaded to a test site for everyone to view.
We welcome your input and make any necessary changes in the visuals, soundtrack, until the program is approved by your organization.
When all the changes are made and you give approval for release, the video program is included in the next PBS uplink for national distribution. This usually happens each quarter or we can launch your video to match your other media campaigns. Around 45-60 days after the first quarter airing, you will receive information about the National Station's broadcast schedule.
We provide underwriters with compressed HD versions of your program in various internet-ready formats for your specific digital marketing applications.
